About the Author

Nora Ligrani….

I am a new mom working and living in Denver, Colorado.

Raised in Arizona, my love of food started at an early age with some of my best memories occurring around a dinner table during the holidays.  The smells and colors along with the chaos of big family meals are seared into my brain and those traditions I am excited to pass down to my children.

Cooking.. If I wanted to eat well, I had to learn to cook well.. so fortunately I have a knack for it and found out I loved being in front of the stove as much as I loved eating what came off the stove.   Hence my experiments and investigations into food, food culture and ingredients.  I am learning more each day as I continue my quest for knowledge and I am excited to see how tastes differ from region to region of the same country.

Travel.. well of course with a love of food, you have to see the places where those great ingredients, recipes and experiences came from.  Second to cooking is travel.. the thrill of seeing new places, meeting new people and tasting new dishes is my perfect life.  I will try anything once and there is no where in the world I would not want to visit.  Give me a passport, a good appetite and with my family I am ready to see the world.  I have been very lucky to be able to travel extensively for business and each time I go… no matter where it may be… it is an exciting adventure. I will actively search out good restaurants and try local specialties.

Colorado and Family.. I was lucky enough to meet the love of my life and move to a place booming with great farms, a farm to table food culture and plenty of farmers markets.  I can easily spend an enjoyable afternoon walking among the stalls browsing ingredients and talking to the farmers.  My husband has Italian roots and loves food as much as I do, I have learned so much from old family cookbooks, family traditional recipes and the overall Italian community in Denver.  I am combining that with my own Hispanic culture and food knowledge to raise my new daughter with the same memories we were raised in.

I hope you enjoy my adventures and misadventures.. and feel free to add your own.   I like hearing about other people’s experiences as much as I like telling about my own.
